Debra Butler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Gores Funeral Home on Oct. 14, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Our hearts are broken to announce the sudden passing of Debra Lynn (Morse) Butler on October 5, 2025. She was an admired angel, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Debbie was born in Plainwell, MI, on July 5, 1963, the daughter of Terry and Sueann (Hoover) Morse. She attended Delton Kellogg Schools and was a lifelong resident of the Delton and Pine Lake areas. She married Mark Alan Butler on August 25, 1990, and together they raised three children, Jennifer, Kimberly, and Rick at their home on Pleasant Lake, where she found peace and connection.
She loved fishing, boating, riding the motorcycle, camping, and entertaining friends and family with cookouts and campfires. She adored spending time with her grandchildren especially at the lake, always up for a swim or a boat ride. Debbie was a hard-working woman at home, both inside and outside, and was always willing to help everyone. She loved gardening and cooking, always trying new recipes and adding her own ingredients just to try them out. She loved the loons in the morning, feeding the birds and the squirrels during the day, and watching the sunset over the lake at night. She was constantly giving to others and always looked for the positive in all of life's struggles. She touched all who knew her with her kindness, humor, and unwavering love.
Debbie was a lifelong hairdresser, starting her career in Gull Lake. In most recent years, she was an employee at the Delton Family Pharmacy, where she worked as a pharmacy tech for over 20 years. While her career path changed, she continued to cut hair for family and friends, and especially enjoyed coffee, donuts, and a haircut with her dad.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; her parents, Terry (Pam) Morse, and Sueann Morse; step mother-in-law, Peggy Butler; her children, Jennifer Reed, Kimberly Swinney, Rick (Sarah) Reed; grandchildren, Hailey Bishop, Alexis (Joe) Arnold, Hunter Swinney, Grady Reed, and River Reed; 8 great grandchildren; her sisters, Theresa Wolthuis (Scott Werner) and Penny Miller; brother-in-law, Don Butler; sister-in-law, Kelli Deshaine; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Karen Lesman.
She was preceded in death by her step father, Jack Clark; father-in-law, Jim Butler; grandson, Tanner Reed; and brother-in-law, JayDee Miller.
Forever a whisper in the wind. Her love will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held on October 20, from 6-8 pm at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home in Delton, MI. Services will be held on October 21st, at 11:00 am at the Hickory Corners Bible Church. Luncheon will follow at the American Legion.
