James L. Boulter, passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 83 in Charlotte, Michigan. Born on February 4, 1942, in Plainwell, Michigan, to Dale and Thelma (Storms) Boulter, James grew up with a passion for the outdoors and a knack for building and fixing just about anything.
After graduating from high school, where he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America, James embarked on a career that would see him wear many hats. He worked with his hands as a skilled carpenter, took pride in maintaining various companies' properties, and upheld community standards as an inspector for Prairieville Township. His work ethic and attention to detail were widely recognized and appreciated.
James's love for animals was evident through his involvement with the Animal Breeders Association and his time spent driving school buses, where he was affectionately known as 'Grandpa Jim' to the many children he transported. His dedication to his community extended to serving on the board of review for Orangeville Township, always striving to make a difference in the place he called home.
Outside of work, James was a man of many interests. His hobby farm was his sanctuary, where he could be found tending to his beloved dogs, restoring tractors, or simply enjoying the tranquility of rural life. An avid hunter, he respected nature and embraced the lessons it offered. His passion for woodworking allowed him to express his creativity, crafting pieces that would become cherished family heirlooms.
Known for his sense of humor, James was a practical jokester who brought laughter and light-heartedness to those around him. He never missed an opportunity to share a story or a smile, making every moment count.
James leaves behind a loving family that includes his three daughters, Deb (Ron) Bagley, Doreen Stanton, and Dawn Kelly; his grandchildren Ronald, James, Hillary, Curt, Luke, Slater, and Glori; and his great-grandchildren Parker, Austin, Oliver, Keegan, London, Charleigh, Kendall, Chandlier, Otis, Caleb, Theodore, Michael, Logan, and Fletcher, as well as Baby Kelly, who will learn of their great-grandfather's legacy. He also leaves his brother Dale (Marylon) Boulter. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dora Boulter, his parents, and his sister Neva Ganzel.
James family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton, where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Private burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
