William Joseph Tallent, known to friends and family as Joe, passed away on November 14th, 2025. Joe was born to Seth and Henriette Tallent and lived a life filled with faith, service, and a deep love for his family and community.
Joe served his country in the U.S. Army and Reserves. As a computer maintenance technician, he enjoyed troubleshooting and problem-solving, skills that he carried into his personal life as well.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Joe served in several important capacities throughout his life, including as Ward and Stake Clerk, Bishopric Counselor, Stake Missionary, and Young Men’s President. His faith was central to who he was.
Joe had a wide range of interests. He was passionate about reading, genealogy, and enjoyed working with computers. He had a special place in his heart for Western films and was an avid Star Trek fan.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Henriette Tallent, his sister-in-law Glenda Tallent, and his children Karla and John Cheek (son-in-law), Janet Brown (daughter-in-law), and Todd Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Tallent; his brothers Paul, James, and Glen Tallent; children Terry Brown (Debbie), Wendy O’Brien (Steve), and Scott Brown (Natalie); as well as grandchildren Stephen, Maddison, Mariah, Ethan, Isabele, Jessica, Courtney, and Aiden. Joe is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Lily, Jack, Kelson, Landon and Lavender.
A Visitation will be held Monday, November 17th, 2025, from 2:00- 3:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 1130 East Alexander Love Highway, York, SC 29745. Funeral Service will begin at 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Providence Care (Hospice Care) at 500 Lakeshore Parkway, Rock Hill, SC 29730, or to a charity of your choice.
