Graveside services celebrating the life of William Wayne “Wham” Tanner, 82, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, with Rev. Bill Hearne officiating.
Mr. Tanner was born on December 19, 1943, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on January 1, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Wayne was married to Ann, the love of his life for fifty-eight years, and together they had two sons, Warren and Brian. He had five grandchildren all of whom he was immensely proud.
Before retirement, he worked as an industrial electrician for forty-seven years at Graphic Packaging. He was known as “Wham” to everyone he worked with because he always told stories about duck hunting at Wham Brake.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved duck hunting, fishing, and gardening. If you visited during the summer, you could always expect to leave with a bag of tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupes, or other produce and you would always know the date and amount of the last rain on his garden.
He was an enthusiastic LSU sports fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys, he rarely missed a game.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Wesley Tanner; and mother, Pauline Pilgreen Tanner.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Ann Tanner; sons, Wayne Warren Tanner (Krista) and Brian Wesley Tanner (Leslie); and grandchildren, Hayden Tanner, Katie Tanner, Madison Tanner, Zoey Smith, and Dylan Roberts.
In lieu of flowers memorials in honor of Wayne may be made to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital.
