William Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Apr. 5, 2023.
February 12, 1951, marked the date of birth for William Taylor, Jr. in Galveston, Texas to the union of the late Rev. William Taylor Sr. and Mary Lee Taylor. He was the third child and only boy amongst three sisters.
William accepted Christ at an early age at Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, where he would later serve as deacon and financial secretary under the leadership of Rev. Byron E. Williams. William received his formal education through the Galveston Independent School District and graduated from Ball High School in 1969. After High School he began his career in management at 7-11 on Galveston Island. In 1971 he was united in marriage to Drusilla Franklin of Hitchcock, Texas. William and Drusilla enjoyed a blessed union of 52 years. To their union three children were born, William Taylor III, Keenan Taylor and Myriaya Taylor. In 1976 William took up a new hobby and was trained in flight school on Galveston Island, where he flew single engine planes from Texas to parts of Louisiana. In 1984 William started a business "Taylor & Sons,'' during this time his company acquired government contracts to clear, clean and restore properties. William later attended trade school and received his license for both welding and pipefitting and was a member of the Texas Ironworkers Union Local 84. His career in ironwork would continue for over two decades. Before retiring William worked as an inspector for Terracon, a local engineering firm.
William was a devoted husband and loving father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He truly cherished spending time with his family and was a pillar of strength and knowledge. He was an avid reader with an interest in painting, cooking, carpentry, fishing and technology. William was often found reading his bible, outside maintaining his lawn and gardening or visiting with family and friends.
On Thursday, March 30, 2023, William went home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William Taylor Sr. and Mary Lee Taylor, his sister, Betty Taylor, his brothers-in-law, Thomas Hudson Jr., and Danny Ross.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Drusilla Taylor; his sons, William Taylor III and his wife Shanda, Keenan Taylor and his wife Danielle and his daughter, Myriaya Taylor; his sisters, Ada Ross and Joyce Hudson; his brother-in-law Rev. Joseph E. Franklin and his wife Marilyn, his grandchildren, Darien Taylor, Noah Spears, Kennedy Taylor, Kyndall Taylor and Olivia Spears; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
