Funeral services for William Ted “Bill” Roberts, 63, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Jeff Raines and Reverend Billy Crosby.
Bill was born on November 30, 1959 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Ted and Alice Roberts and passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Bill was a 1977 graduate of Southwood High School, Shreveport, Louisiana. He received a B.A. in Music from Mississippi College. He was a member of The Naturals performing arts group at Mississippi College. Bill served as the Director of Music at First Baptist Blanchard Church from 1989-1992. Pursuing a career in insurance, Bill worked for State Farm from 1988 until 2002 before working for independent insurance agencies from 2003-2018. He was a gifted singer, pianist and guitarist and was passionate about music and performing arts, LSU football and golf. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, where he sang in the choir.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Gladys Roberts and Devant and Freda Farmer; nephew, Tyler Purvis and lifelong friend, John William Pruett. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Ted and Alice Roberts; daughter, Rachel Walls and husband, Matt; son, Scott Roberts; grandchildren, Bodhi and Eisley Walls and Bailey Blackwell; sisters, Karen Purvis and husband, Bob and Melanie Johnson and husband, Mike; brother, Danny Roberts and wife, Tara.
Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be family members Mike Johnson, Blake Johnson, Bob Purvis, Leo Estrada, Ray Parker and James Elliott. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Scott Roberts, Matt Walls, Nate Pons, Stephen Townsend, Devant Roberts, Josh Blackwell, J.J Jangula and Billy Tingle.
