William Pierce Thompson

With deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of William Pierce Thompson of Round Hill, VA. William departed peacefully at home on February 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Arlington on December 8, 1951, to Charles and Evelyn Thompson, William's 74 years were defined by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to his family. After graduating Loudoun Valley High School in 1970, he carried a strong work ethic throughout his career, eventually retiring from the City of Fairfax.

To his neighbors and friends, William was the man who always had a helping hand or a word of encouragement ready. He was a member at the Loudoun Golf and Country Club, where he found great joy and camaraderie. For the last 25 years, he and his wife, Jennifer, explored many islands together on cruises and creating a lifetime of cherished memories.

William's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Jennifer; his children, Meghan Thompson, Ryan White, and Jillian Welsh (Tanner); and his siblings, Peggy Shetter (Cordell), Robin Thompson (Tracey), and Doug Thompson (Ronda). He was a proud grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of two. He now joins his cherished sister, Donna Miller, and beloved daughters, Morgan and Cara, who preceded him in death.

In accordance with William's wishes, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. The family extends their deepest thanks to Blue Ridge Hospice for their compassionate care. William's journey has ended, but his warmth and spirit remain a guiding light for all who knew him.
