William Rogers Titchener
January 12, 1947 - January 7, 2022

Loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, William Rogers Titchener passed away peacefully at his home Friday, January 7th, 2022.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Kind, colorful, humorous, and quick-witted, Bill Titchener will always be remembered for his quiet loving ways and amazing stories.

Born January 12th, 1947, in Pensacola, Florida, Bill was raised in Wilson, N.C., the son of
Elizabeth Rogers Titchener and John David Titchener. He was a member of and regularly attended St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Wilson. He also attended Fike High School, and Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he excelled in sports, especially track and field.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Titan II Missile officer in the 1970s. He was a devout Christian all his life and a true patriot.

Bill graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1970 and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. In 1976, Bill received his master's degree in History at UNC-Greensboro. He later finished law school at Campbell College in Buies Creek, N.C., as a member of the first graduating class in 1979.

After marrying in 1982 and moving to Raleigh, N.C., Bill worked with the law firm of Seay, Rouse, & Harvey and then Seay, Rouse, Titchener & Horne. He closed his law legacy as a sole practitioner at Titchener Law Firm in Raleigh. Bill was a proud member of the North Carolina State Bar, Christ Episcopal Church, and various civic clubs.

Brunch with his girls, a pet in his lap while reading or watching a movie – add his love for history, literature, Chapel Hill, the beach, family get-togethers, storytelling, birdwatching, and UNC sports. That was Bill Titchener.

Bill is survived by his two loving daughters, Winnie and Liza, son-in-law Jeremy, his precious grandson, Marshall, and his former spouse and friend, Lynn. Also surviving are Bill's two brothers, John David Titchener, Jr., and Robert Lee Titchener. He is pre-deceased by his brother Walter Edmund Titchener.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh on Saturday, January 15th at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA of Wake County or Christ Episcopal Church, Raleigh, N.C.

I have retired and moved from Raleigh so I am just now seeing that Bill has passed. This is such a loss, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. He was such a kind, generous, funny guy - and it makes me smile just to think of him. I was a Realtor, and represented the late Larry Bragg (Bragg and Associates
and Homeplaces, LLC) for many years. So Bill and I had many, many closings together, as well as all my own and my family's closings. If I ever had a legal question, Bill was there for me. With his dry sense of humor and quick wit, he was always terrific with my clients, and really made closings comfortable and entertaining. And I tell many Bill stories to this day. What a gentle spirit he was! He will be sadly missed. In our hearts forever...

I was so sorry to here this sad news. My dad , Bill Rouse, always spoke highly of him. Another angel has risen. I hope they reunite. My thoughts are with his friends and family. My mother, Liz, always got a kick out of the fact Lynn and Bill named their daughter Winnie because it was her mother´s name.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I never had occasion to meet him, but heard so many lovely stories from Winnie. May he rest in peace.
