An angel of the Lord visited our beloved William "Peanut" Troy on the morning of Saturday, June 24, 2023; relieving him of his earthly duties and welcoming him to his heavenly home.
On a glorious day, Friday, August 1, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we were honored by the birth of William Frank Troy, affectionately known as "Peanut" to family and close friends. William was the fourth of five children born to Robert Roy and Maxine Palmer Troy.
William began his education at Reynolds Elementary School in Philadelphia but later attended schools in the Lawnside Public School system when the family relocated to Lawnside, NJ. While in school, William ignited his passion for football and track and field which ledhim to se several records at the Penn Relays in the hurdles. William's love for sports was something that he was able to share with his children as well as his grandchildren. Coaching them in numerous sports and of course being their biggest cheerleader. Everyone that me t William knew that he was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles as well as a New York Knicks fan. William would often say that he bled "green"; no matter what their record was his support never wavered for the Eagles.
As a mature teenager, William enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served for 22 years. While serving in the military, William was afforded the opportunity to travel to various locations stateside as well as tours to Germany, Korea, Panama, and Japan to name a few. During his travels, William enjoyed the fine cuisine from th3ese countries and often learned the native tongues to be able to effectively adapt to his environment. William earned numerous awards and recognitions during his career and retired as a decorated Non-Commissioned Officer. In 1999 William decided to hang up his boots and lace up his tennis shoes to spend more time with his family. After retirement from the US Army, William joined the Motorola team in Seguin, Texas. Building many relationships and moving up with the company; he stood tall as the company transitioned from Motorola to Continental and now present-day Vitesco. William was employed with the company for 23 years until his health began to interfere with is responsibilities and he retired in March of 2022. You could find William parked in the back of the parking lot because he di not want to park too closed to others, enjoying his lunch or taking a nap, if he was gone beyond is designated break/lunch time.
William loved to cook, and he did not mind sharing his barbecue prepared on one of his many grills. If he found a new recipe/method of preparing meat everyone was in for a treat. On any given day you could drive by and smell the aroma of his delectable barbecue and know that you were welcomed to a meal.
On June 13, 1998, William was joined in holy matrimony to Demetria Tisdale; to this union, one child was born. William was a person that loved his family and shared family accomplishments and memories with anyone who would listen. William was the epitome of a loving, caring nurturing provider to all that he encountered. While his family was his main priority, he was the go-to person for many people offering words of wisdom and sharing his life experiences. He "never met a stranger."
William joined the Faith Temple COGIC of Hallettsville, Texas under the leadership of Supt. Willie Williams. When Supt. Williams established his ministry in the San Antonio area, William moved with the church and was an advent supporter of the ministry.
William was met at the heavenly gates by his father Robert Roy; siblings: Tyrone and Cynthia Troy; son Marcus Troy, Sr. and mother-in-law Barbara Haynes.
William leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Demetria; children Terrell Banks of NJ, William Troy, Jr, Matthew (Whitney) Troy of Kentucky, Khari Miller and Tieara Troy of Texas; devoted mother Maxine Troy; grandchildren: Makayla Troy, Maleah Troy of Georgia, Marcus Troy Jr. of Texas, Trinity Troy and Michael Troy of Kentucky, Terrell Banks Jr., Rashida Rosales and Nicolas Alvarado of Texas; great-grandchildren: Aria and Amaya Perez of Texas; siblings Roberta Troy of Alabama and Adam Troy, Sr. of New Jersey; sisters-in-law Terrie Alston and LaShonda Haynes of South Carolina; godchildren Xavier Allen, Victoria Allen and Lakendall Green, Jr., all of Texas; special friend Pamela Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
