It is with both heavy hearts and a nod to his playful spirit that we announce the passing of William "Billy" Walters, who took his final ride into the sunset on February 7, 2025, at the age of 68. Born in the heart of Louisville, Kentucky, on July 8, 1956, Billy was a Southern original who grew up to be a man with a zest for life and an eye for detail.
Billy spent his days as a Property Inspector at Shodon Corp, where he had a knack for finding every creak and crack, perhaps because he approached his work with the same meticulous enthusiasm he had for riding his beloved motorcycle. After that, he honed his people skills working retail at Autozone, where he always knew just the right part to recommend-even if it wasn't the one you asked for.
A lifelong learner, Billy attended Virginia Peninsula Community College and was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church, where he was known for his glorious baritone voice-whether you wanted to hear it or not. He lived life on his terms and never met a stranger, just friends he hadn't yet charmed with his wit and stories.
Preceded in death by the dearly missed Edith Walters (Mother), William Walters Sr. (Father), sister Deborah Walters Thorson, and niece Heather Thorson, Billy reunites with them now for what we're sure will be one heck of a family reunion.
He leaves behind a loving and slightly bewildered entourage: his sister Anita Weirich, brother David Walters, son Shay Walters, and nephew Olaf Thorson, nephew Jay Weirich, nephew Matthew Weirich along with a slew of adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and three beautiful grandkids who have undoubtedly inherited his penchant for humor.
A service to celebrate Billy's vibrant life will be at Grace Fellowship Church in Hampton VA on March 8th, 2025 at 11 am. In the meantime, remember Billy when you hear the roar of a motorcycle engine or spot the perfect property, because somewhere out there, he's enjoying a smooth ride on the endless highways beyond.
