William Michael Warren was born on December 2, 1957, to Carl Milton Warren, Sr. and Audie Mae Wallace Warren, and passed away on August 11, 2025, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carl M. Warren, Jr. and John W. Warren.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Carol Fike Warren; daughters, Audra Toney (Jay) and Amber Brown (Shane); and his cherished grandchildren, Chandler Morrison, Anna Kate Morrison, Audie Reese Brown, Taylor Brown, and Crews Toney.

After graduating from Southern Academy (1975), Mike joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. Following his discharge, he returned to Greensboro, Alabama, where he lived the remainder of his life.

He and his wife joined the “family tradition” of trucking, spending many miles together traveling across the country. After coming off the road, Mike continued his education at Wallace Community College, earning an associate’s degree in Diesel Technology and his teaching certification. He went on to serve as the Head Instructor of the Truck Driver Training Program at Shelton State Community College for 25 years, where he made a lasting impact on countless students. Later, he transitioned into industry as the Safety Director at Industrial Warehouse Services, which later sold to Buddy Moore Trucking.

Five years ago, Mike retired for good and embraced a somewhat slower pace of life. He spent his days tinkering with his many unfinished projects, helping care for his youngest grandchild, Crews, working alongside his brother John to restore antique vehicles, and lending a hand with any project his family or friends needed. He especially treasured the time he shared with his grandchildren, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Mike also spent many years influencing children through sports, whether coaching city league softball and baseball, Southern Academy baseball and basketball, Hoopsters, or pee-wee football. Some of his most cherished moments came when former players approached him years later, remembering the impact he had on their lives. His love for Southern Academy ran deep, earning him the nickname “The Voice of Southern Academy,” as he faithfully announced football games under the Friday night lights. He and his press box crew created countless unforgettable memories together. Other favorite pastimes included spending time at his camp house on the river, always eager to see who he could throw from the tube next.

To call Mike a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend hardly captures the depth of what he meant to those who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and devotion is one that will endure for generations. As he so often prayed, “May God grant us the strength to accept the things in life we cannot change.” Though his passing is one of those things we cannot change, we take comfort in knowing he was welcomed into the arms of his Savior, embraced by grace and eternal peace.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Marion Junction Cemetery in Marion Junction, Alabama with Magnolia Chapel South directing.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robbie Hoggle, Jerry Lavender, Jason Lavender, Scott Rhodes, members of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Department, and the Southern Academy Family.

Pallbearers will be David Bone, Shane Brown, Chandler Morrison, Daniel Sanderson, Michael Soesbe, and Jay Toney.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Family and Friends of Mike Warren account at The Citizens Bank, or to a charity of choice.
