William A. Wendell, 78, a longtime resident of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.
Bill was born January 6, 1946, in Sunman, Indiana, the son of Lewis and Edith Eckstein Wendell. On April 28, 1964 he married Mary J. Seibien.
Mr. Wendell retired from Cummins Engine Company in 2005 after 40 years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sons, Bill Wendell of Columbus, Jim (Kirstine) Wendell of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; siblings, Robert (Joyce) Wendell of Hillsboro, Ohio, Jean Staley of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Ruth (Don) Beetz of Sunman, Indiana, Lou (Diane) Wendell of Oldenburg, Indiana, Shirley (Warren) Tucker of Jonesboro, Tennessee, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary on September 30, 2003.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
