William K. "Bill" Whittaker, age 76, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1946, in Fond du Lac, the son of Louis and Dorothy (Faul) Whittaker. Bill graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1964, and then went on to serve in the United States Navy. On July 11, 1970, he married Evelyn "Evie" Klapperich at St. Mary's Church in Marytown.
Bill worked at Mercury until retiring in 2008. He was a member of Church of Peace in Fond du Lac where he was involved for many years and was a former Council President. Bill enjoyed working at Fox Diamond Center and volunteered for Agnesian Hospice. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, especially the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. Out of all his pastimes, spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite. Traveling was an important part of Bill's life. He enjoyed planning events from birthday parties all the way to vacations in Hawaii and Alaska. He truly was the ultimate family man, he always thought of others and put them before himself.
Survivors include his wife, Evie; three children, Traci Lynn Whittaker, Tara Lee Whittaker, and Todd Louis (Dawn) Whittaker; three grandchildren, Bren, Colby, and Wyatt; his siblings, Tom (Jan) Whittaker, Dave Whittaker, Katie (Jim) Stephany, Diane (Joe) Ule, Bob (Susie) Whittaker, Nancy (Oscar) Pfeiffer, Carl (Pat) Whittaker, Carol (Tom) Carlson, Randy (Connie) Whittaker; sister-in-law, Kathy Whittaker; brother-in-law, Gerry (Ann) Klapperich; sister-in-law, Debbie Klapperich; best friend, Otto (Mary) Tulowitzky; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Anita Klapperich; one infant daughter, Tammi Lee; siblings, Jean Whittaker, Mel Whittaker, Janet Whittaker; brother-in-law, John Klapperich.
Visitation will take place on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Church of Peace, 158 S. Military Rd, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Visitation will take place on Saturday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM then going to church for the service. Burial will follow the service at Rienzi Cemetery. Military graveside honors will take place at the cemetery.
