William "Billy" Widner Obituary
William "Billy" Widner, age 62, suddenly passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at his home in Kenton, DE.
Born May 16, 1962, to William and Marietta Widner in Nurnburg, Germany. Billy was raised in Maryland, Georgia, Virginia, and Japan, as his father was in the US Army. He moved to Dover DE in 1970.
Billy was a passionate and avid musician and singer. He started singing professionally in 1983, with the band, "Funny Money", in Dover, DE. His singing career took him to Tyler, TX and Daytona Beach, FL, where he performed with various bands. He would refer to himself as, "Just a Singer in a Rock n' Roll Band." All of his friends delighted in his stories about his encounters with the many famous rock stars he had an opportunity to meet. Once he stopped singing professionally, he continued to enjoy attending concerts.
Billy was a kind and gentle soul. He was devoted to his dog "Chuppie". They spent most of their days listening to music and going for walks around the neighborhood.
Billy is survived by his mother, Marietta Darden, his uncles, Edmund and Anthony Di Giovanni and his niece Christin Widner.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 from 1 to 3 PM at Faries Funeral Home located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Burial will be private.
