William Edwin Wiley

William "Edwin" Wiley, 98 of Gonzales passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born May 9, 1927 in Stockdale the son of William Lonnie Wiley and Winnie Lou Bell Wiley.

He served with the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946, stationed in San Diego on the USS Texan and deployed to Hawaii to assist with the rebuilding of Pearl Harbor. After returning to Gonzales he married Peggy Ann Richter on March 6, 1948.

In early years he worked at the cotton mill here in Gonzales and later as a feed mill operator and truck driver at the Abercrombie Ranch, where they lived until his retirement. Edwin enjoyed many things in life, from tinkering around in his shed, making fishing lines, fishing the Guadalupe River along with his wife Peggy and their dog Brutus, hunting for whitetail deer and fishing trips with friends to Lake Tawakoni. He loved to dance and have a few beers with friends and loved ones.

He is survived by his daughters Linda Hall, Brenda Henderson (Gary) and Susan Pierpont (Charles); 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren with one more on the way. He was preceded by his parents, wife Peggy, son-in-law Johnnie Hall, grandson Sam Hall, great grandson Jonathan Hall and siblings.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the funeral home with Reverend Clint Lowery officiating. Interment will follow at the Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers include William Heller, Lance Lopez, Casey Toungate, Brandon Toungate, Johnnie Hall Jr. and Greg Kuntschik.
