ROCHESTER:
William Thomas Zucca, age 74, passed away peacefully October 21, 2025, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
William ("Bill") was born in Yonkers, NY, on July 28, 1951. He was the son of William and Ida (Giella) Zucca. He grew up in Winter Park, Florida where he received his early education and graduated from Winter Park High School, class of 1969. He earned his Bachelor's from University of Central Florida and a Masters in Media from the University of Florida and began a career in teaching (both Middle and High School). He earned a second Masters in Technology/Industrial Arts from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, before moving to Rochester in 1984. He continued his teaching career in Rochester until his retirement where he played a significant role in getting the school wired for school-wide computers and networks. Additionally, he was instrumental in integrating technology into all aspects of the core curriculum. Despite being an avid proponent of technology and progress, his lifelong passion for restoration shone through in everything he did. This was never more evident than in his significant participation and leadership in restoring Pierce Hall in Rochester into a beautiful Community Center. His interest in the history of the town and community in which he made his home was never-ending. He enjoyed woodworking, antiques, historic restoration and collecting 78rpm records of 1920's-30's Jazz (and all the players & radios on which to play them!). Bill was fiercely proud of his Italian heritage and kept alive and passed on family connections in Italy which are still alive and well today.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Collins Zucca, whom he married in Winter Park, FL on December 21, 1974; his beloved daughter, Maria Zucca Holtz and her husband, Eric Holtz Jr; and a foster son, Rob Ingham.
A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date, in the family lot, at Bingo Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; Valley Hub, Inc PO Box 27 Rochester, VT 05767 in support of the restoration and use of the school building where he spent the majority of his career.
