Willidean "Peggy" Witthoft, daughter of the late Arnold Crowden and Ruby (Cochran) Nelson was born on September 1, 1948 in Randles, Missouri and departed her life on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at her daughter's residence in Morley, Missouri at the age of 75.
Peggy was a member of the Morley Baptist Church where she was baptized on April 23, 2000. She was a former employee of Piggly Wiggly, cake decorator and cook for Food Giant for many years, and was a member of the ladies auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars in Morley, Missouri.
On March 26, 1965 she was united in marriage to James A. Burton. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1989. She then united in marriage to Thomas L. Witthoft on December 30, 1995. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1996.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy (Janie) Burton of St. Genevieve, Missouri; one daughter, Lora (Rodney) McCoy of Morley, Missouri; two brothers, Jay Crowden of Gorham, Illinois and Bud Crowden of Vanduser, Missouri; sister, Dorthy (Steve) Crider of Jonesboro, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; also, by other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Fred Nelson; one son, Michael Burton; and one sister, Shirley Rodgers.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Cobden Cemetery in Cobden, Illinois with Michael Blissett and Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow.
