Willie David Branham of Springport,
Passed away at the age of 86 on September 3, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1939, in Martin, Kentucky to Anson Hatch and Dollie (Pitts) Branham. He worked at Reno Onion Farm in Munith as a child, and that cultivated his love for gardening throughout his whole life. Willie's love for gardening was always strong and he always wanted to be in action, working on many projects. At the age of 15, he went to work at Polly's Supermarkets for several years before working for Wrigley's and Great Scott Supermarkets. Willie then worked for the Birch Insurance Agency, as partner owner and agent. During the 90's he built a home in Florida where he and his wife, Darlene, wintered for 20 years. Willie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed doing genealogy work and the blessings that it brought him. Morel mushroom hunting was a tradition shared with the Banister Family and close dear friends. In his retirement, Willie spent much of his time visiting with all of his grandchildren and he shared his new love of reading with anyone that he could. He also enjoyed working alongside his son-in-law and grandsons in their excavating business in the summer and went to visit family and friends in Florida in the winter. Willie loved sharing valuable lessons he had learned throughout his years. He loved his time at Springport Speedway. Willie was actively involved in his township, was recognized for his efforts there and loved by many. He was happy to be active, on the go, and always made friends everywhere he went. Willie is loved and will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his children, William David (Erin) Branham of Ephraim, UT, Scott James (Luticia) Branham of Livonia, Sarah Jean Martin-Elswick (James) of Pensacola, FL, Jennifer Lynne (James) Pitcher of Springport; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; siblings, Juanita Schultz, Walter Branham. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene F. Storey Branham; brothers, Robert Anson, Danie Branham.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3019 W. Morrell St, Jackson MI 49203. Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 6-8pm at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
