Ruth Law Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 8, 2025.
Ruth Ann Law, of Grand Ledge, MI, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 95 in Lansing, MI. Born on January 6, 1930, in South Bend, Indiana, daughter of Vern and Ruth Roesch, Ruth's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving son, Jim (Jill) Law, and daughter, Debby Kalish. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Joe (Nikki) Law, Nick (Meredith) Law, Jeff Law, and Chris (Keri) Kalish, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Kennedy Kalish, Keegan Law, Graham Law, Blair Law, Jackson Law, and Atticus Law. Ruth's sisters, Susie Kirby, Judy (Fred) Koos, and Mary Graham, along with several devoted nieces, nephews, and secret friend also survive her. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Ruth Roesch, her beloved husband, Lloyd Law, and her son-in-law, Rick Kalish.
Ruth's educational journey included two years of college at Lake Forest College, after which she found her calling at the Grand Ledge Public Library. Her twenty years of service there saw her become a beloved fixture in her hometown. Ruth's commitment to her community extended to her longstanding membership at the Grand Ledge Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she cultivated many lifelong friendships and offered her time and talents generously.
Her interests and skills were many, but Ruth was particularly skilled at knitting and sewing, creating countless treasured items for her family and friends. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like searching for shells on the beaches of Florida, and she had a unique talent for turning those shells into beautiful, handcrafted mementos. Above all, Ruth loved her family deeply, and she instilled in them the values of kindness, compassion, and love.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Ruth to GLDAL Grand Ledge Area District Library, 131 E. Jefferson St, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. For online condolences please visit www.millsfuneral.com
