Lynn Dee Ferentchak (née Butler), 85, of New Providence, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Overlook Hospital surrounded by her loving family at her side.
Born on December 7, 1939, in Evanston, IL, Lynn was the daughter of Ann (née Jakse) and Raymond Butler. She was raised in Glenview, IL attended Lake Forest College and married her beloved, Rudolph 'Rudy" in 1961. After moving to New Jersey, the family settled in New Providence where Lynn was a full-time homemaker dedicated to raising her five children, a role she embraced with love, and care. In later years she worked as an Office Administrator at Davies & Associates Insurance in New Providence.
From a young age, Lynn had a passion for dance, especially tap and ballet; a love for which she joyfully passed on to her daughters. A devoted Catholic, she was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church, New Providence where she was a proud member of the Rosary Society. She gave generously of her time through volunteer work with the Overlook Auxiliary Twigs and the New Providence Welcome Wagon, warmly greeting new families to the community she loved.
Lynn will be remembered for her generosity, nurturing spirit, and deep selflessness. Her greatest joy was her family. She took a special interest in her grandchildren, attending their activities and celebrating their achievements. Sunday family dinners were especially meaningful to her, a weekly tradition filled with love, laughter, and togetherness. Christmas was also an especially memorable celebration.
Lynn is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Rudy Ferentchak, her loving children, Kenneth (Pam) Ferentchak, John Ferentchak, Jim (Renee) Ferentchak, Debbie (Karl) Kavanagh and Nancy (Rick) Wallert. She was the cherished grandmother of: Kevin and David Ferentchak; Ashley (Joe) Sourial, Andrea (Fiancé Kevin Kaiser) Ferentchak, Denise (Lou) Sabando, and Christine Ferentchak; Jessica and Ryan Ferentchak; Brendan, Evan, Kieran, and Larissa Kavanagh; and Kelly and Rick Wallert. She is also survived by her adored great-grandchildren: Jacob, Oliver, Fallon, Otto, Neymar, Marcelo, Selina, Hailey, and Mia. Lynn was predeceased by her parents.
