Robert D. Hoesly, affectionately known as "Hobie", passed way with his family by his side on October 1, 2025, at the age of 77.

Visiting will be held in Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, NJ on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 1-5 PM. A Prayer Service in his memory will begin at 3 pm during visiting hours.

Hobie was born in Newark, NJ, raised in Summit and was a graduate of Summit High School. He has been a long time resident of Berkeley Heights, NJ.

Following high school, he attended Miami Dade Junior College and received his Associate's Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

He then embarked on a long career with AT&T where he retired in 2014 as Manager of Property Services.

When Hobie wasn't working, he really enjoyed his leisure time in social settings such as being a long time active member of the Springfield Elks Lodge and playing golf and darts with his buddies, where he was known as a prankster and socially funny guy, people loved to be in his company. If you knew Robert, you knew that he was a die hard fan of the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hobie is the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" Hoesly (nee Ahern), together 48 years; Loving Father of Robert and Steven Hoesly and Erin Hoesly Shiben and her husband Joshua; dear brother of Thomas Hoesly, Cindy Hoesly Luciano and the late Albert, George, William "Billy" Hoesly and Dianne Hoesly Janssen Heinl; cherished grandfather of Franklin Hoesly Shiben.
