Wendy Whitlock Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
Wendy Raye Whitlock, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, graced this world with her vibrant spirit and compassionate heart from her birth on August 17, 1972, until her peaceful passing on October 5, 2025, in her hometown of Lansing, Michigan. Wendy's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her love for music and the arts.
An exemplary student, Wendy graduated from Holt High School with straight A's in the class of 1990 before pursuing higher education at Western University and at Siena Heights University where she received her bachelor's degree, where she excelled academically. Her intellectual curiosity and work ethic set the stage for her successful career as an insurance agent.
Beyond her professional achievements, Wendy's passion for music and community service shone brightly. As a member of the Capital Area Blues Society (CABS), she not only served on the Board of Directors but also shared her love for blues music as the host of her own radio show on Lansing Community College's station. Her voice and enthusiasm for the genre brought joy to countless listeners and made a lasting impact on the local music scene.
Wendy's interests and involvements were diverse and rich. From her earlier years in 4-H and the Girl Scouts to her active participation in theater, she embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. As a member of the Mitten Mavens, Wendy found a unique way to combine her love for sport and her charismatic personality, serving as the non-skating officiant (NSO) for the Roller Derby under her spirited derby name, "Meow Kapow."
Her life was not only defined by her own pursuits but also by the love she had for her family, which extended to her cherished pets, Mr. Flynn and Monkey.
Wendy's legacy is carried on by her devoted mother, Natalie Hause; her sister, Jodi O'Connell; her brother, Mark (Debbie McCreary) Whitlock; and her beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Wendell, her grandparents, Robert and Leona Densmore, and her aunt, Alberta Noecker.
Wendy's presence in this world was a gift to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her generous spirit, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Wendy to the Capitol Area Blues Society or the Capital Area Humane Society. For online condolences please visit www.millsfuneral.com

Earlier today

Wendy, I'm so sorry that we did not have as much time together as I would like to have had, However the time that we did have together was spectacular. You were always such a joy, I will miss your laughter, your dancing, all the events that we have all attended together over all the years, your smiles, your laughter (snorts), your tears and your bird chirp phone. You are loved by so many and you will be missed so very much.

RIP Wendy
