Willie (Man) Lane, age 83 of Bridgeton transitioned peacefully into the open hands of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 1, 2025, at Inspira Medical Center at 4:40 pm. The son of the late Jessie May Lane and the wife of Mozelle (Mosey) Lynn Lane, he was born on September 13, 1941, in Tennille Ga.
At a young age, Willie and his mother along with other family members moved to North Carolina. After settling there for a few years they migrated to Bridgeton in 1952. After his mother passed at the age of 13, his late beloved Aunt Mattie Lane Wingo became his legal guardian. When she became sick, he became her faithful loving caregiver until she passed in 2006.
He attended Upper Deerfield Township Schools and graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1962. After graduation he joined the NJ 1st Battalion National Guard 50th Armor. He obtained the rank of SP5 and earned 4 Merit Awards as a sharpshooter in rifle and pistol. Willie was honorably discharged after 6 years of military service on December 1, 1969.
He worked part time for several years at Richard Cummines Co. in Vineland and Seabrook Farms of Upper Deerfield Township. After more than 30 years of dedicated service at Coca Cola Bottling in Marmora, NJ, he retired in 2004. Willie was a hardworking, loving husband and father. A mild manner, quiet, sweet, generous loving person, he almost never raised his voice. In his unique way, he taught Bible Study to his family. He would bring the Bible to the kitchen table, and he would teach the TRUTH!
He always spoke about his family being sharecroppers in the South and the hardships they went through. This experience gave him a strong work ethic and a strong desire to provide for his family.
In his younger years Willie loved to garden in his field, producing delicious fruits and vegetables. His favorite was fried okra. He used the garden as a teaching method to teach values and life lessons. He enjoyed watching football with his son and especially the Philadelphia Eagles.
Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Mozelle, four children; Wanda (Erick) Hill of Raleigh NC, Tammy (Ramon) Rolle Townsend of DE, Christy Lane Johnson of Bridgeton and William Lane of Lansdale, PA, grandchildren; Anthony Tyrell Lane, Hope Elizabeth Johnson, Faith Marie Johnson and Layla Michelle Rolle, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins (more like siblings) and friends.
He was predeceased his mother, Jessie May and his aunt Mattie, by his uncle Roosevelt Wingo, his stepfather Alphonso Brooks his stepmother Emma Jean Brooks.
