Willie Moton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Butler and Sons Funeral Home - Saluda from Nov. 28 to Nov. 29, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Mr. Willie Anthony Moton was born in Edgefield County, SC, May 19, 1976 to Mary Emma Jones Moton and late Willie Moton. He was the grandson of the late Abe Moton, Sr. and the late Myrtis Lee Settles Moton and the late Tommie Jones Sr. and the late Frances Jones. He departed this life on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Self Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

At an early age, Anthony gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and joined the Liberty Spring Baptist Church, Edgefield, SC, where he remained a member until he went home to be with the Lord. Anthony received his education from Edgefield County Public Schools graduating from Strom Thurmond High School in 1994. After graduating from High School he worked at Matthews Mill a division of Greenwood Mills. Later in life, he married his wife, Vicky Bryant Moton, on April 16, 2021. He worked at Eddy's as a supervisor in Greenwood, SC.

Anthony leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Vicky Bryant Moton; his children, Nakinge Hartley and Tyanna McCalister, Ariana Bryant, Jamaris Stevens, and Jamya Stevens; his grandchildren, Zymere Patterson, Laeon Patterson, Kylie Phillips, and Kalvin Phillips; his mother, Mary Jones Moton; his sisters, Melissa (Bernard) Smith and Valerie (Reginald) Robinson; nieces and nephew, Tiffany Smith, Ashley Smith, and Omar Robinson; his great-nephew, Shamar Turner Jr. (Tiger); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Vivian Bryant Andrews. He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family members who will miss him deeply.

Anthony was affectionately known to his family and friends as "Big Mo", "Ant", and "Big Baby". He loved sports (especially baseball!), cooking on the grill, joking, and eating. Most importantly he loved his family and spending time with all of his family. His heart was big, and his jokes were bigger.

The family is at the home, 39 Simmons Road, Edgefield, SC and at the home of his mother 50 Moton-Moore Road, McCormick, SC.

When you bow to pray please include the family in your prayer during the hour of bereavement.
