Willie Powell, Jr., 64 yrs old, departed this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 11 am at St. John Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Monday, October 14, 2024, at Griffin Mortuary from 4pm to 6pm. 

Willie was born to Willie Powell and Bernice Jarmon on April 16, 1960 in Lubbock, TX. He attended Estacado High School shortly after he joined the U.S. Army, where he served as a Sergeant. He worked for the City of Lubbock, Southwest Wheel, Oil Field, and 4840 Solutions. As a young child he grew up in Lyons Chapel Baptist Church. 

He is preceded in death by his father Willie Powell, his mother Bernice Jarmon, his brothers Irvin English and Larry English, his sisters Marilyn English and Sherry Sheppard.

He leaves behind to mourn, his 2 sons Dale Powell and Willie Powell, III, (RiRi), his daughter Shaquinna Powell (Durran Scott), his wife Latoya Wynn (Powell), his 7 grandchildren, his sisters Debra Daniels and Nancy English, his brothers Dennis English (Donna), Kenneth Smith, and Ronald English, and a host of nieces, nephews, along other relatives and friends.
