Willie Ryles Obituary

Published by Ideal Funeral Parlor - Florence on Sep. 4, 2010.
Willie Ryles, Jr. "Baby Boy" was born on November 22, 1929 in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was the son of Willie Ryles Sr. and Lee Bertha Moore. He departed this life at 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010 after a brief illness at Carolinas Hospital System. He attended Hutto High school in Bainbridge, Georgia (Decatur County). He served in the United States Army during the Korean War for two and a half years; and was released with an honorable discharge. He was formerly employed with the United States Postal Service in Seacaucus, NJ, and retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Newark, NJ after 35 years of service. Willie was a member of Grand Chapel United Methodist Church in Whigham, GA, (Grady County). After many devoted years in Newark, New Jersey, he and Edith relocated to South Carolina and joined Fellowship Church of God, Timmonsville, SC with their children and family. Willie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Edith Jackson Ryles on October 23, 1952, becoming one as two doves joined together forming a heart of love. Five lovely children were blessed to this union. He actively served as a member of the Trinity Masonic Lodge #33; the National United Affiliated Beverage Association; managed the Boy's Club and Little League Baseball Team, and assisted as counselor for the Upward Bound Housing Authority in Newark, NJ. His passion included football, baseball, fishing, traveling, youth, and most of all his love for his family. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Lucille Merritt, Bernice Millner, Carolyn Echols; and one infant brother. He leaves to cherish pleasurable and lasting memories to his beloved family: his loving and adorable wife of 57 years, Edith Jackson Ryles of the home; two daughters, Minister Theresa Williams of Florence, SC and Dorthea Ryles of Newark, NJ; three sons, Willie (Beverly) Ryles, III of Florence, SC; Leon (Barbara) Ryles of East Orange, NJ, and Alonzo (Dela) Ryles of Newark, NJ; eight grandchildren, Robert, Micaela, Milisa, Johnathan, Delon, Brandy, Brandis, and Hydea; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Jimmie Lee Mattox and Emma Brown of Bainbridge, GA; four brothers, Charles (Mary) Ryles, Gary (Myra) Ryles, Marvin (Lisa) Ryles, and Ernest (Carol) Ryles, all of Bainbridge, GA; three brothers-in-law, Norman Fields, Alex Jones, both of Florence, SC, and Prince Jones of Newark, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Goss and Starlene Hines of Newark, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
