Willie Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service - Letchworth Chapel on Feb. 18, 2026.
Willie Ervin Taylor, born on April 15, 1946, in Hobgood, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at his home in Titusville, Florida, at the age of 79. Born and raised in Hobgood, Willie was a man of many talents and a dedicated public servant.

Willie began his career with the Postal Service, where he served his community with diligence and care. He later ventured into entrepreneurship, owning and operating his own construction company until his health no longer permitted him to continue. A proud veteran, Willie served his country with honor in the Army National Guard before joining the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Known as a "jack of all trades," Willie had a wide array of interests and skills that he generously shared with those around him. His hands were never idle, always finding ways to create, build, and improve.

Willie is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Millard and Dorothy Price Taylor, and his brother, Millard Taylor Jr. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughter, Stephanie Taylor, and son, Jeff Taylor, both of Eustis, Florida; and his sister, Carolyn Newton of Wilson, North Carolina.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Hobgood Cemetery. Reverend Dustin Sprouse will officiate the service, honoring Willie's life and legacy.

Donations may be made in memory of Willie to Hobgood Baptist Church, PO Box 36, Hobgood, NC 27843 or online by clicking here.
