Willis Burns,65, of Boaz passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born March 18, 1957, in Richland Center, the son of Gordon and Phyllis (Popp) Burns. Willis graduated in 1975 from Richland Center High School and received a certificate in welding from SWTC. He started at Wisconsin Dairies / Foremost Farms where he worked until his retirement on July 31, 2018, after 42 years. After meeting on a blind date on July 3, 1993, Willis married Barbara Hughes on February 28, 2004, in Richland Center. He enjoyed playing softball in the summer leagues, hunting, camping, and road trips in the country.
Willis is survived by his wife Barb; parents: Gordon and Phyllis Burns of Boaz; brothers: twin brother Curtis of Richland Center, Tim (Helen) Burns of Muscoda; sister: Joyce Morgan of Richland Center; step daughters: Amy (Matt) Porter of Whitewater, Lisa (Chris) Mustard of Jacksonville, FL, Danielle (Karlene) Prouty of Bradenton, FL; step grandchildren: Riley and Abel Mustard, Jackson Muth, Zack, Zoe, and AJ Porter; uncle and aunt: John (Shirley) Popp; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Willis was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Scott and Ida Burns; maternal grandparents: Delbert and Minnie Popp; many aunts and uncles.
