William (Bill) R. Collins Sr., age 80, of Phenix City, Alabama, born in Logan, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 9th.
A proud veteran, Bill honorably served in the United States Army. Following his service, he dedicated his career to the Columbus Fire Department, where he retired as a Battalion Chief. Beyond his work, Bill found great joy in coaching youth sports, including baseball, football, and basketball, inspiring many young athletes throughout the years.
He loved music and fellowship, often sharing his talents through karaoke and playing guitar with friends, as well as his charitable work with Shriners International. Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to community and country, and the warmth and joy he brought to all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his two beloved children, Jo Ann Collins Timmons and William (Billy) R. Collins Jr. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Raenelle Collins; his brothers Gary Collins, Sonny Collins, sister Greta Greene and sister in law Regina Collins; daughter in law Joy Collins; four grandchildren, Stephen Starley, Jacob Timmons, Raven Timmons, and William Collins; as well as four cherished great-grandchildren Sierra Starley, Savannah Starley, Cody Barringer and JoAnn Barringer and one great grandchild on the way Skylar Barringer.
