Willow Dean Shavers, passed away peacefully at her home in Bryant, Alabama on August 24, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on January 13, 1933, Willow Dean lived a life rich in love, faith, and devotion to her family and friends.
Willow Dean had a remarkable ability to listen and support those around her, always approaching life with an open heart and open mind. She cherished her summers spent at Hilton Head Island, enjoying time on the beach with family. An excellent cook, she loved trying new vegan recipes and sharing meals with loved ones. She was a devoted member of the Floral Crest Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she found joy and purpose in her faith, contributing her time and spirit to the community she cherished. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Willow Dean is survived by her daughters, Paula (Mike) Griffin of Cumming, GA, and Pamela Dodd of Rossville, GA, as well as her grandchildren, Andrea Paul and Kellie Griffin of Cumming, GA. She is also remembered affectionately by her great-grandchildren, Emilie Paul, Griffin Paul, Walker Paul, Willow Donnelly, and Thomas Donnelly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Breland Shavers, her parents, Grady Wyatt and Ruby Moore Reece, and her late siblings—sister Annie Bernice Bynum, and brothers William Carlon Reece, Arlon Reece, and Homer Reece.
A funeral service celebrating Willow Dean’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 12:00 PM ET (11:00 AM CT) in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Brown Gap Cemetery.
The family invites friends to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET and on Wednesday from 11:00 AM ET until the time of the service.
Robin Bynum, Terry Reece, Mark Reece, Griffin Paul, and Walker Paul will serve as pallbearers.
Willow Dean's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
