Wilma Eide Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 17 to Jul. 18, 2025.
Wilma Ruth (Welch) Eide, of Lawson, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her daughters and loving family, on July 14, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on March 25, 1937, to Ralph and Rachel (Lockard) Welch. Wilma lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for those around her. She graduated from Butler High School in 1956 and went on to attend Central Missouri State University.

Wilma began working at a very young age-first as a personal care assistant at just 12 years old and later as a dishwasher at 16. She went on to work at Northeast Tool & Dye, where she assembled bicycle reflectors onto cards, and later at The Federal Building as a stand operator. Several years later, she opened a licensed daycare in her home, where she lovingly cared for children for over a decade.

On July 13, 1968, Wilma married the love of her life, Lloyd Eide. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage and a passion for the outdoors. They spent approximately 15 cherished years hosting Kelsey Campground in Buffalo Creek, Colorado-creating memories, sharing laughter, and building long lasting friendships while camping under the stars amongst the mountains. They were married for 39 years.

Wilma was known for her warm spirit, gentle humor, and incredible talent in the kitchen. Even after losing her vision, she remained an exceptional cook, preparing countless meals with care and grace. She loved reading, visiting with friends over a hot cup of coffee, camping, and-most of all-being surrounded by her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.

She was a faithful member of Vibbard Christian Union Church in Vibbard, Missouri, where her kindness and devotion touched many.

Wilma is survived by her daughters Donna Petree (Rick) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Suzzanne Pope (Clint) of Lawson, Missouri; as well as her niece Michele Poynter of Liberty, Missouri, and nephew Brian Welch of Chandler, Arizona, both of whom she helped raise with deep love and care. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Wilma is also survived by her sister, Nancy Dillon of Kimberling City, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Eide; her son, Billy Bancroft II; her parents, Ralph and Rachel Welch; and her siblings Sarah Welch, Vonetta Frazier, Bonnie Dickerson, Jewel Welch, and Leroy Welch.

Wilma's life was a beautiful example of grace, grit, and generosity. She will be remembered for her warm hugs, strong spirit, and the way she made everyone feel at home.

Visitation will be held at Vibbard Christian Union Church on Wednesday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Family suggests contributions be made to Harbor Hospice 208 N Main Street, Plattsburg, Missouri 64477.
