Wilma Gilbert Obituary
Jean, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her husband of 67 years, Mannie Gilbert; 3 blessed children, Gayle Rabon, Dale Gilbert, and Susan Luce; 6 grandchildren, Shannon (Russ) Arndt, Ashley (Steve) Kershner, Stevie (Matthew) Vitagliano, Dustin (Kenyanna) Rabon, Riley (Cody Mecalo) Seigrist, and Hanna (Brandon) Capps; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored her dearly.
Jean was the 8th child born of 13, growing up in Pennington Gap, Virginia. She had many hobbies but her favorites included gardening, quilting, sewing, and assembling puzzles. She was a remarkable cook and thoroughly enjoyed preparing feasts for her family to gather together. As we ate, she would out-strategize us in all games but her favorites were Domino's and Skip-Bo. She made a (stiff) strawberry daiquiri and always wore a smile.
Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering strength for her family. Wilma Jean loved deeply, was deeply loved, and will be dearly, dearly missed.
Funeral services will be at 9:30AM, Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas, with burial to follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00AM at the funeral home.

One of the things I remember most about my aunt Wilma was her smile and laugh. Her and Mannie were always so nice to me when I was young girl in Albuquerque. I know she will be missed dearly. My condolances to all the family at this time.
