Wilma Mae McKinley, 95, of Piqua, OH passed away at 7:14 AM on Friday July 11, 2025, at Koester Pavilion Nursing Home in Troy, OH. She was born August 8, 1929, to the late James R. Wheeler and Zora L. (Vogler) Wheeler. She married Vernon E. McKinley, August 4, 1951, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2001.
Wilma will be forever missed and remembered by her family and loved ones. She is survived by one daughter and her fiancé: Dawn Van Matre (Kevin Shatto), Piqua, OH; one son: Vincent Bruce McKinley, Piqua, OH; one grandson and his fiancé: Zachary Van Matre (Luna Coneby); one great granddaughter: Lauri Van Matre. Wilma was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Patricia L. Wheeler, Janice (Dennis) Foster and Joyce (Daniel) Robinson.
Wilma graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1947 and was a dedicated member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was actively involved in the Piqua Leisure Club, WOW-Westminster Women's Organization and served as a deacon for several years. She also enjoyed taking care of the Radio Ministry at Westminster Presbyterian Church for ten years. She worked a secretarial position with Piqua National Bank for many years and enjoyed all types of flowers, crafting and spending time with her family and loved ones.
Funeral services for Wilma will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday July 17,2025 at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Rodriguez officiating. Burial to immediately follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua, OH. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday July 17,2025 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Wilma to: Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development and Nicholas School 1306 Garbry Road, Piqua, Ohio 45356.
