Memorial services for Woodrow Wilson Mitchell, Jr, 80, of Hideaway will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Bailey officiating. Mr. Mitchell passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, in Tyler. He was born February 24, 1945, in Dallas to Evelyn Lavender and Woodrow Wilson Mitchell, Sr. Woodrow served in the US Air Force and then went on to graduate from North Texas State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He had a long career in Chamber of Commerce management and Economic Development within municipalities in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. Woodrow married the love of his life, Lisa Ploeger, on July 29, 1972, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories for 52 wonderful years. He loved vacations in the mountains with his family, casting lines into the quiet rivers-though he rarely caught anything beneath the surface. An avid poker player, he enjoyed the thrill of the game, always ready with a knowing smile and a keen eye for a bluff. Preceded in death by: wife, Lisa Mitchell, sister, Julia Berry, parents, Evelyn and Woodrow, and sister-in-law, Kristina Busceme. Survived by his loving daughters, Alison Mitchell and Kristen Herring. He dearly loved his three granddaughters: Lauren Bradham and her husband Blake, Emily Herring, and Rebecca Herring. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Richard Berry, George Busceme, and Kurt Ploeger and his wife, Debbie. In addition, he leaves behind several cherished nieces, nephews, and their families. Family will receive friends from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
