Wynaka F. Lucas

Wynaka F. Lucas, age 86, was born March 19, 1939 as the 12 th of 19 children to Homer & Lola (Gard) Ray in Springfield, MO. She graduated the class of 1957 at Fair Grove High School & married the love of her life, Edmond (Bud) Lucas, March 2, 1968.

Wynaka lived, worked, loved for her family. She adored her son, Frederick (Fred), & her 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, & 1 great-great grandchild.

Wynaka worked at Universal Flowers for many years & was employed with Wal-Mart before a tragic accident earlier this year changed everything, but Wynaka leaned on her Lord & lived His testimony that while she was weak, He was strong. This was evident in her smile, her determination, her strong faith, & continued sass.

Wynaka loved spending time with her family, building puzzles & watching Gunsmoke & game shows with her sisters. She enjoyed special trips taken to spend time with loved ones & was so looking forward to an upcoming trip with her sisters & nieces to celebrate one of her sister's upcoming birthdays.

Wynaka was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on September 5, 2025 & reunited with many family & friends who have passed into eternity before her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmond, & her son, Frederick Choates, along with her parents, Homer & Lola Ray, 13 brothers & sisters: Billy Ray, Otis Ray, Hubert Ray, Leoris Ray, Rebecca "Betty" (Bob) Cheek, Andrew "Johnny" Ray, Dean (Jewel) Ray, Lloyd (Ida) Ray, Homer "Joe" (Jean) Ray, Rachel Ray, James Ray, Steve (Pat) Ray, Baby Girl Ray, & brothers-in-law, Kenneth DeHaven, Ron Himstedt, & Robert Wallin.

She is survived by 1 brother, Deryl Ray, & 4 sisters: Rosalee DeHaven, Dorthy Himstedt, Mary Wallin, & Madene (Paul) Stahlman; 1 sister-in-law: Kay Ray; her 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Timmy, Wynaka, Amber, Joey, & Cynthia, her 15 great-grandchildren, & 1 great-great grandchild, plus numerous nieces & nephews who all loved her & cherish the memories we have.

A visitation for Wynaka will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri. The Funeral Service for Wynaka will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with a burial to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery located in Fair Grove, Missouri.
