In Loving Memory of Dr. Xiaomeng "Emma" Yue, October 10, 1990 – May 5, 2025
Xiaomeng "Emma" Yue passed away on May 5, 2025, at Northwestern Memorial
Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 34, after battling recurrence of cancer.
Surviving is her husband Yuxiang Li, daughter Hanhan, and her elderly parents.
Born on October 10, 1990, in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China, Xiaomeng grew up
in Beijing and graduated from the Capital Normal University High School. She loved
sports and became a China National Second-Level Athlete in Taekwondo during her
high school years. She graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from
the School of Pharmacy at Shenyang Pharmaceutical University. Later that year,
Xiaomeng moved to the United States to further her education at the University of
Cincinnati, Ohio. She earned her Master's degree in 2017 and completed her PhD in
2020. Her academic work spanned pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance, and
pharmacoeconomics, and she was a prolific scholar, co-authoring nearly 40 peer-
reviewed publications and five book chapters. In 2023, she was appointed as an
Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy.
During her graduate studies, Xiaomeng interned at both Pfizer Inc. and the Mayo Clinic.
She began her professional career at AbbVie in 2020 and formally joined their Global
Epidemiology department as a Senior Manager in late 2021. Her outstanding
contributions led to her promotion to Associate Director in the spring of 2024. Xiaomeng
was known for her work ethic, warmth, and collaborative spirit. She approached every
task with diligence and precision earning unanimous praise from her colleagues.
It was during her time as a graduate student that Xiaomeng met her soulmate, Yuxiang
Li. They married in 2017 and welcomed their daughter Hanhan in 2018. Xiaomeng was
a generous and caring person. She was a hard worker, loved life, nature, and above all,
her family. Whether in Cincinnati or later in Chicago, she loved taking her family on trips
to see beautiful sights, go to local events, visit museums, and listen to concerts. For
traditional holidays, she enjoyed making zongzi and other special foods to share with
neighbors. She also found joy in gardening and took great care of her home garden,
making it a beautiful and peaceful place. She was such a capable and loving person.
Her spirit touched all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love,
strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17 th, 2025, 9:00 AM at McMurrough Funeral
Chapel (101 Park Pl, Libertyville, 60048), followed by a service at 11:00 AM at the same
