Margaret Benoit Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMurrough Funeral Chapel - Libertyville on Feb. 23, 2026.
Margaret Nettie Davis Benoit was born December 22, 1935 in Dorchester County, South Carolina, the youngest of seven children, to John and Maggie (Meyers) Davis and entered eternal life on February 16, 2026. She is survived by her children Margaret (Mike) Pezzella, Patrick (Danette) Benoit, and Daniel Benoit; grandchildren Stephanie (Anthony) Lee, Christina (Brian) Gondek, Sara Pezzella, Emily Pezzella, Megan (Steve) Wilson, Justin (Shannon) Benoit, and Bekah Benoit; and great-grandchildren Steph and Jon Wilson; James, Ethan, Evan, and Riley Benoit; and Tommy and Gianna Lee. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Paul, and son Timothy.

Margaret was a proud graduate of the Medical College of South Carolina where she earned her nursing degree. She lived many different places, but never lost her love for her home of Summerville, South Carolina. She was involved in many different organizations and causes throughout her life, including gardening and cooking clubs in North Carolina, politics in Iowa, and president of her condo association for 18 years in Illinois. After her children grew, she returned to her nursing career, including working at The Mather in Evanston, Illinois.

Margaret enjoyed when all of the family could be together and saw every family gathering as an opportunity for a party. Her family fondly remembers how she always wanted to take time for hors d'oeuvres before getting to the main course.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Rd, Libertyville, Illinois 60048 with entombment to follow at Ascension Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Lake County Right to Life, 100 N. Atkinson Road, Suite 110E, Grayslake, IL 60030 or to Human Life International at https://www.hli.org/.
