YOSHIMINE Yoshikazu Obituary

Published by East Valley Tribune on Jun. 14, 2015.
YOSHIMINE, Yoshikazu 'Yoshi'Age 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Queen Creek, Arizona on June 9, 2015 after his fight with lung cancer, despite being a non-smoker. Yoshi was born May 21, 1949 in Kagoshima, Japan to Saiji and Tami Yoshimine. After learning English and serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sapporo, Japan, Yoshi made his way to the United States where he studied at what is now Utah State University. Yoshi worked as a Product Engineer and Computer Programmer. While in school, Yoshi met the love of his life, Nancy Warner. They were engaged within 30 days of their first date and married in the Idaho Falls Temple less than 4 months after that. After finishing school Yoshi got a job with IBM, which moved them from Utah to Tucson where they raised their two children. Career opportunities eventually took them to Chandler. One of Yoshi's dreams was to own land. His dream was realized when he found property in Queen Creek, where Yoshi and Nancy resided at the time of his death. Yoshi loved his home on an acre lot that contained a large workshop, orange trees, and enough ground to always keep him busy. Yoshi loved fishing. He also enjoyed driving to explore places around the area. Yoshi was the quintessential handyman and fixed just about everything around the house including automobiles. If he didn't know how to repair something he had a wonderful friend that could help him figure it out. Yoshi was an accomplished cook, taking over that role for the 36 years that he and Nancy were married. Yoshi was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including being a member of the High Council, Sunday School President, Ward Mission Leader, and Temple worker. Yoshi is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; two children, Keiko and Yoshihiko; siblings, Sachiko (Hiromi) Kusuhara and Mitsuru Yoshimine; along with other extended family all living in Japan. Yoshi was preceded in death by his parents, Saiji and Tami Yoshimine. The family wants to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful care that Yoshi received from Sage Hospice, they truly are angels here on Earth. At Yoshi's request, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will gather informally to reminisce all the good times we've had over the years. Please Sign the Guestbook ateastvalleytribune.com

I met Yoshi when he first joined IBM. He was a member of a great team of people who worked hard together. On most Fridays we all had lunch out at restaurants around our site. We would have the most lively and funny team discussions. Eventually, we all moved on to different areas, but I know he stayed working with a few of the same guys. So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to your family.

We will miss Yoshi and his gentle ways, but he will always be in our thoughts and hearts. You are, as well. Much love to you and the kids. Dave & Laura

Love to you, Keiko, and Hiko. I know that Yoshi loved you very much. It was a blessing that he didn't have to suffer any longer. As always, you and the kids are in our thoughts and prayers.
