Choi, Young Hee ("Mary") (nee: Yoo), of Glen Rock, NJ, on January 12, 2022. Born in Korea on October 14, 1938 to Pan Seob Yoo and Chang Hun Song, she was the eldest of seven siblings. Blessed with exceptional intelligence, she excelled academically, earning a B.S. for pharmacy from the prestigious Ehwa Womans University, Seoul, Korea. Young Hee volunteered as a pianist at Do-Won-Dong church, where she met her husband. Upon graduation and marriage, she moved to Whouk-Suk-Dong where she established Gun-Ah Pharmacy and began raising a family. In 1974, Young Hee, with her husband, immigrated to the United States and settled in Brookline, MA. Her three children arrived a year later. Young Hee reinvented herself and began a career at Carter Rice Storrs & Bement, in Boston, MA. She started in data entry and evolved to computer operations and programming. In 1986, Young Hee moved to New Milford, NJ and worked at Holiday Fair, in Secaucus, NJ, and thereafter at Mondani, in New York, NY, collectively for over 30 years. Throughout her life, she tirelessly dedicated herself to serving God, Jesus Christ and His church.
Young Hee impacted everyone she cared for. We will miss all that made her beautiful: radiant smile, intelligence, the pitch of her voice, huge heart, complete selflessness, unlimited generosity, witty humor and her relentless work ethic. She was fiercely loyal and never gave up on those she loved and cared for.
Young Hee is survived by her three children, David (Brookline, MA), Ann (Wilton, CT) and Daniel (Glen Rock, NJ), and her eleven grandchildren. Young Hee was predeceased by Yang Sun Choi, her husband of over 55 years, in 2018.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne, NJ. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.
