Eugene "Gene" Marzorati, 96, of Hawthorne, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, at the Veterans Home in Paramus.

Born in Paterson, NJ, Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Roosevelt. After the war, he built a life rooted in family, service, and hard work. He raised his family in Haledon, NJ, where he was a longtime member of Haledon Volunteer Fire Company No. 2. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the fire company picnics, where he could often be found manning the clam chowder cauldron.

Gene worked for many years in the trucking industry as a terminal manager with Arrow Carrier Corporation and Mushroom Transport before retiring in 1988 with his beloved wife, Ursula, to Hawthorne.

He was predeceased by Ursula, his devoted wife of 65 years. Gene was the proud and generous father of Joanne Ivie and her husband, Brad, and Gerry Marzorati and his wife, Barbara. He was a loving grandfather to Devon and Travis Ivie and to Guy and Luca Marzorati and their wives, Urvashi Reddy and Sarah Kahwash.

A private family service will be held at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene's memory to North Jersey Friendship House, 496 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ 07649, a program supporting adults with autism and other varying abilities, in honor of his grandson, Travis.
