Young Kil Matkin, affectionately known as "Kil", passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born in Seoul, South Korea on December 2, 1949, Kil was a loving, generous, thoughtful, and compassionate woman whose love knew no bounds. She dedicated her life to her family and to the service of others. Kil's generous spirit was reflected in her chosen field of hospitality, and she spent many fulfilling years as a hotel manager, a role where her thoughtful and compassionate nature truly shined.
Kil's life was enriched by the love of her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, John Matkin, whom she married on March 14, 1974. Their love story was one of genuine partnership and mutual respect. She was also a devoted mother to her children, Ricky (Jamie), Ryan (Hannah), and Mitzi (Curt), showering them with the same generous love she extended to all who knew her. Kil's joy was multiplied by the arrival of her grandchildren, River, Paige, and Cadence, who filled her life with laughter and happiness. Her hobbies, meeting new people and shopping, were also expressions of her loving and generous nature.
In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Kil embodied this sentiment, always putting others before herself. She was truly a gem whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
