Youssef Georges Saab

Youssef Georges Saab, 61, of Columbia passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Youssef was born on May 22, 1963, in Hadath El Jebbeh, Lebanon to Gerges Saab and Genevieve Homeis. He grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Carmelite High School in 1982. Following high school, Youssef immigrated to the United States where he would continue his education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and graduate with a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1989. In 1990, Youssef started his career as a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Missouri and would remain in this position until his retirement in 2021.
On July 27, 1998, Youssef was united in marriage to the love of his life Mirna Chedrawy in Hadath El Jebbeh, Lebanon. This would be the beginning of life as a family man for Youssef, and within a few short years following their marriage the happy couple would welcome their two children Genevieve and Danny into the world. Youssef loved being a father and took great pride in his children, both of whom will love and cherish his memory forever.
In his free time, Youssef enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles, playing chess, reading, and was very competitive when it came to playing racquetball and badminton. Youssef found great joy in teaching others and working with his hands. He was also a peaceful person who lived a quiet life and had a heart for helping others. Above all else, Youssef loved spending time with his wife and children who all will miss him dearly.
Youssef is survived by his wife Mirna Chedrawy-Saab; two children Genevieve and Danny Saab; seven siblings: Elias Saab, Hind Saab, Antoinette Saab (Tony Sfeir), Father Habib Saab (Odette Mrad), Daniel Saab (Juliette Salame), Nadia Saab (Eddie Shalala), and Rita Saab (Paul Chedraoui); mother-in-law Paulette Chedrawy; two brothers-in-law Raymond Chedrawy (Hiba) and Simon Chedrawy (Mayssa); and sister-in-law Hanane Najjar (Jack).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Foutine Saab, his father-in-law Wehbe Chedrawy, and his sister-in-law Paulette Saab.
Friends will be received from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Dr., Columbia, MO 65203, which will be immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held at Columbia Cemetery.
