Yvonne "Shirley" Barnes, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025. She fought the fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. She entered heavens gates rejoicing with Jesus while sharing the beautiful smile and personality she was never without. The last 4 years she was loved and cared for by her nephew, Paul Ratcliff who was by her side through the good and bad times while traveling this journey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mildred Costner. Her sons, Frankie Barnes and Kelvin Barnes.
She is survived by her children Ray Barnes, Samantha Ashe, and Melvin Barnes. Sisters, Peggy Ratcliff and Sandy Lyles. Brothers Julian Costner and Junior Costner. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, neices and nephews.
Shirley will always be remembered for eating her ice cream, while enjoying the birds and flowers. She was always known for her love of gospel music which she truly enjoyed. There was never a day that she didn't call those she loved and those calls will be greatly missed.
