Our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend Zachary William Berkeley passed away unexpectedly and needlessly on January 18, 2025. Zac was born in Panorama City, CA on January 12, 1989. He spent most of his childhood and early adult years in Palmdale, CA, where he excelled in youth soccer, learned to play guitar, and graduated from Pete Knight High School in 2007. He spent more happy years in Vancouver, WA and Flagstaff, AZ before moving to the Phoenix area a few years ago.
Those of us Zac leaves behind include his one true love, his wife and partner of 17 years, Raven O'Neal of Glendale, AZ; his mother Elizabeth of Vancouver; his step-father who raised him Jeffrey of Bullhead City, AZ; his sisters Erol (husband Trey, 1 nephew) of Portland, Montana and Antimony, both of Vancouver; his brother Xenon of Spokane, WA; many, many other friends and family members; and billions of others who will never get the fortune of experiencing his laughter, his loyalty, and his character. That's not to mention his dogs, cats, lizards, scorpions, and dozens of house plants. His favorite dog, Scooby, will be there to meet him along with his favorite grandfather Elliot.
Zac was known as an outdoorsman (hiking, hunting, fishing, gardening...), a hobbyist (Legos, minerals, photography, music, baking...), and above all a hard-working, selfless man and dedicated friend. We all miss him and will look back at the many happy memories with gratitude and humor.
A service will be held for immediate family and close friends at a later date. A GoFundMe has been established to help Raven with the unexpected expenses associated with Zac's passing. Zac, a life-long animal lover, would surely encourage anyone who felt so inclined to make a contribution to your local animal shelter in his honor.
