Obituary for Zara Jazmine Holmes
March 1, 2007 – August 20, 2025

Zara Jazmine Holmes was born on March 1, 2007, in Lufkin, Texas, to James Wesley Holmes and Tia Marie Parker King. She passed away tragically on August 20, 2025, in Jacksonville, Texas, following a car accident.

Jazmine loved life and lived it with joy, purpose, and a contagious smile. During her time at Iola High School, she was an active member of FFA and FCCLA, where she made many lasting friendships. She graduated with the Class of 2025 and was excited to begin her next chapter at Sam Houston State University to pursue her dream of becoming a game warden.

She was a "girlie girl" at heart-always keeping her hair, nails, and make-up just right-yet she embraced her country roots and loved mudding, back road rides, and the beauty of the outdoors. Jazmine had a passion for photography, capturing God's creation through her lens, and she excelled in sports, playing both volleyball and softball throughout school. She also enjoyed cheering and the bond of being part of a team. Known as a "selfie pro" and an upcoming TikTok influencer, Jazmine enjoyed making people laugh and sharing her life with others.

She adored animals, especially horses and her beloved dog, Coco. With a giving heart, she also volunteered her time with the local fire department in Iola, Texas. Her presence lit up every room she entered, and her kindness touched many lives.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Wesley Holmes; paternal great-grandfathers, Malcolm Holmes, Charles Lowey, and Harvey Bazmore; paternal great-grandmothers, Leora Bazmore and Lulla Belle Orme; maternal great-grandfathers, John Hulen Parker, Vernon H. Tarver, and Howe Wayne Hargrave; maternal great-grandmother, Helen Marie Parker; paternal uncle, Billy J. Minter; maternal great-uncles, Brian Scott Parker, James Clifford Parker, David Wayne Parker, and Ray McKown; maternal great-aunt, Nancy Thomas; and maternal cousin, Lloyd Dewaine Delano.

She is survived by her loving mother, Tia King, and bonus father, Junior King; brother, Zachary Dewaine Parker; and sister, Kandice Elizabeth King. She also leaves behind her maternal grandparents, Randy and Rhonda Parker, and Tammy and Wesley McGee; paternal grandparents, Wesley and Theresa Holmes, and Leslie and Delman Orme; maternal great-grandparents, Clarice Tarver Gonzalez and Urbano Gonzalez, Gene Lloyd, Mary Jo Hargrave, and Jenny Magee; paternal great-grandmother, Ola Mae Holmes Lowery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Groveton Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Pennington Cemetery.
