ALBANY – Evette Zenaida ‘Zeidy’ Rodriguez, 56, whose gentle nature and boundless love made her a treasure to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Zeidy was born in Manhattan, on June 25, 1969, the daughter of Lewis Rodriguez and Ruth Pimentel. She graduated high school and earned her associate degree, a milestone that brought her great pride. Zeidy had the kindest heart, and nothing meant more to her than being surrounded by her family—her three sisters, her three sons, and especially her precious granddaughter, for whom she would have done anything. She always tried to do what was right and to be a good person, finding joy in simple moments and comfort in the company of those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Pimentel, and her sister, Penny (Penelope) Bounds.
She is survived by her sons; Brian Pennick, Joshua Newhart, and Zachary (Ivonne) Newhart; her cherished granddaughter, Maleah Pennick, was the light of her life; her beloved furry son, Tokyo: She leaves behind her sisters, Iris Dukes and Carmen Raychel Centeno; She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Ebony Yeboah, Essence Joseph, Christian Sagastume, Najèe Dukes, and Ayanna Z. Roberson; Great-nieces and great-nephews; Nailah Wallace, Josiah Dukes, Messiah Sagastume, Nazari Sagastume, Mateus Sagastume, and Akuoko Yeboah; She is remembered as well by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wherever she is now, we hope she’s looking out at a beautiful beach—the place she loved most—finally at peace.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-4 pm at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street.
