Zelda McClung Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sanders Funeral Home - Lubbock on Dec. 5, 2025.
Zelda Frances McClung, beloved mother, grandmother ("Nana"), great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on November 28, 1929, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Zelda's life was marked by unwavering dedication to her family, her work, and her delicious home-cooked meals.

Zelda graduated from Lubbock High School and went on to enjoy a remarkable 45-year career at Rainbow Bakery. She was the heart of the business office-a warm smile that greeted everyone-and always kept a bowl of lemon drop candies on her desk. She was also the welcoming voice of Dillard's for 40 years, leaving a lasting mark on the shopping experiences of many. If you ever visited the store, it was likely her cheerful voice you heard over the intercom, and if you took advantage of the gift-wrapping services, chances are she wrapped your gifts herself.

Zelda's passions included going to the movies and shopping at TJ Maxx with her dear cousin and best friend, Melba Boyd. She expressed her love through cooking and baking, creating rich memories as she prepared her family's favorite cakes for birthdays and hosted Sunday dinners-traditions that became cherished by all.

Zelda was not only a hardworking professional but also a devoted family matriarch. She is survived by her son Charles "Dink" McClung; daughter Karen Ervin; and son Shawn McClung and his wife, Patsy Morgan- who were her pride and joy. The strong bond she shared with her brother, George Webb, and sister-in-law, Sue Webb, further enriched her life. She was a loving Nana to Nicholas Ervin and wife Jennifer Ervin; Christy McGill and husband Kyle McGill; John Ross Ervin; and Jessica Peace and husband Dusty Peace. Zelda embraced her role as a great-grandmother with unmatched delight, cherishing Grant McGill, Kaitlynn McGill, Slade Peace, William Ervin, Pakston Peace, Brooklynn McGill, and Maddie Ervin. She is lovingly remembered by her nephews-Jay Webb, Aaron Webb, Kelly Webb and Mike Webb,-their spouses, and children, all of whom brought much joy to her life.

Zelda's funeral service will be held at Sanders Memorial Chapel on December 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Her family encourages all who knew and loved her to come and celebrate her remarkable life and the love she shared with everyone she met.

As we remember Zelda Frances McClung, let us honor her legacy of love, joy, and family with laughter and good memories.

Zelda was preceded in death by her father, Ruben Webb, and her mother, Mildred Webb.
