Zelda Nimmer Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyndahl Funeral Home on Jan. 12, 2025.
Zelda Aileen Nimmer, 100, of Green Bay passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at New Perspective Assisted Living.
Aileen was born on March 5, 1924 in New Albany, IN to Charles and J. Irene (Best) Budd. She was a graduate of New Albany High School. On December 2, 1945, she married Lee Nimmer. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1994. Aileen was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother who took great pride in raising her family.
Aileen was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was involved in activities such as friendship luncheon, cookie walk, and women's circle. Aileen had a magnetic personality and enjoyed meeting new people and engaging in conversations. In fact, she spent several years greeting new residents to the area. She was an avid gardener who also enjoyed feeding and watching birds. Her interests included baking (her almond crescents were second to none), cooking, crafting, painting, writing, and playing bridge. Music provided her with comfort. She had a smile that was warm and inviting and had a knack for making anyone who had the privilege of knowing her happier simply because of her positivity.
Aileen is survived by her children: Terry (Carol) Nimmer, Madison, and Teddy Spiegelberg, Green Bay; grandchildren: Paul Nimmer, Alyssa (Rob) Thomas, Casey Nimmer, Karen Livengood, Lin Schmidt, Rebecca Spiegelberg, and Melanie Spiegelberg; great-grandchildren: Mercedes Nimmer, Devon Nimmer, Emilia Nimmer, Eric Thomas, Brody Thomas, Trevor Thomas, and Zachary Spiegelberg; and two nieces: Jan Greenlee, and Cathy (Randy) Wesner. Aileen was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and J. Irene Budd, her husband, Lee Nimmer, infant grandchild, Emily Nimmer, infant great-grandchild, Sean Spiegelberg, grandson-in-law, Don Livengood, two sisters Betty (David) Mivelaz and Judy (Paul) Farnsley.
The family would like to thank her New Perspective family of staff, caregivers, and residents. In addition, a thank you to her "Monday friend" Sandi Tibbetts and to Dave Rimple. And a thank you to Moments Hospice, especially to Caiden and Alyssa.
Memorials may be gifted to United Methodist Church, in honor of Aileen.
