Zetti Veta Charlot, 72, of Englewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on
October 9, 2025, following heart failure.
Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Zetti's life was one defined by love, compassion, and service.
She devoted more than half a century to caring for others-ten years at Holy Name Hospital in
Teaneck and forty years at Englewood Hospital, where she retired as a Certified Nursing
Assistant. Her steady hands and kind heart comforted countless patients and families through
the years, earning her the admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Zetti's journey began in Jamaica, where she completed her early education before continuing
her studies in the United States and graduating from junior college. Though her career was
spent in hospitals, her true sanctuary was her garden. There, surrounded by blossoms and
greenery, she found peace and purpose-tending to the earth as lovingly as she tended to
people. Her garden was her refuge, a place where faith, patience, and renewal grew side by
side.
She was the devoted wife of Cowitz Charlot, beloved mother of Rosemarie Thompson and
Cowitz Charlot Jr., and the cherished grandmother of Khyana, Kamaya, and Malik Thompson,
as well as great-grandmother to Nazire Cradle and Saige Mel'Ann Moore.
Zetti was preceded in death by her parents, Zetta and Samuel Taylor, and her sister Mary
Taylor. She is survived by her sister Fae Miller; brothers Samuel Taylor Jr. and Herbert
Taylor; youngest sister Doris Richards; and a loving circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and
extended family who will forever hold her memory close.
Those who knew Zetti will remember her for her quiet strength, nurturing spirit, and the gentle
wisdom that seemed to bloom wherever she went. Her life was an example of dedication,
kindness, and grace-a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
Her roots ran deep, and her love even deeper. May her soul rest in eternal peace and her
memory forever blossom in the hearts of those she touched.
