It is with extreme sorrow that the family of Zlata Ann (Zukancic) McGraw announces her passing away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her much-cherished home in Latrobe.
Zlata was born on April 9, 1949, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, the daughter of the late Avdo and Kate (Glavas) Zukancic.
Resourceful and resilient, Zlata arrived in New York City in July 1978 with two suitcases in hand. Three days after her arrival, she had a Social Security card and was employed at International Books and Records where she had started her New York adventure.
Zlata loved big cities rather than the lure of nature trails. The city was a beacon of fashion and elegance, dazzling and exotic, where she set her own style. Once people met her, they never forgot her.
Zlata married Joseph J. McGraw on September 9, 1980, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where they made their home for the next 28 years. Always inseparable, the couple created a Disc Jockey business, working clubs and events in South Florida. Enthusiastically, Zlata finally reverted to Home Health Care, providing supporting services to elderly individuals in their homes, improving their quality of life.
Zlata's love of all things antique, Victorian, and eclectic, brought her to Pennsylvania. Her artworks, love of color, and creative genius enabled her to create the most special home that she truly adored. Throughout her time in Latrobe, she was a member of Latrobe Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, Zlata is survived by her loving sister, Jasminka Rajcic, and her husband, Vladimar; nephew, Marko Rajcic, and his wife, Ana, and their children Petar and Tara; niece, Marija, and her daughter Masha, all of Belgrade, Serbia.
Services were private. An open house will be planned at a later date to view Zlata's unique art and to celebrate her talent and life. Arrangements were handled by the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe.
